Perak Fatwa Council Member Dato' As'ad Awang Announced As Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1444H

IPOH, 30 July 2022 - Perak State Fatwa Council Member Dato' As'ad Awang, 65, a former Arabic teacher and lecturer, was selected as the recipient of the Perak Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1444H Award.

HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented the award in conjunction with the Perak State Level Maal Hijrah 1444H Celebration at Hotel Casuarina@Meru this morning.

The secretary of Masjid Jamek Pengkalan Hulu Sirat Abdullah, who introduced the concept of a mosque in a garden, was chosen as the recipient of the Tokoh Ar Ridzuan Award.

Each recipient received a cash prize of RM15,000, an Umrah package worth RM7,000 and a certificate.

The Belia Award was given to Malaysia's best student and ninth in the world in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination, Siti Naziah Mohamad Naziq.

The Pengurusan Masjid Terbaik Award was won by Masjid Bandar Universiti, Seri Iskandar, while the Pengurusan Tanah Perkuburan Islam Terbaik Award was given to Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kampung Padang Tembak, Lumut.

Three schools were selected for the Usaha Tani Sekolah Terbaik Award, namely SK Changkat Tin, Tanjung Tualang, SMK Tan Sri Abdul Aziz, Lenggong and SMK Datuk Seri Wan Mohamed, Gerik.

The Usaha Tani Masjid Terbaik Award was won by Masjid Al Muhajirin, Kampung Nibong Hangus, Parit Buntar, Masjid Al Khairiah, Rantau Panjang, Selama and Masjid Tajul Rahman, Teluk Intan.

All winners received a cash prize of RM5,000 and a certificate.

Accompanying His Royal Highness were HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, HH Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and HH Raja Puan Besar Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris A'fifullah Shah.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) President Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd. Annuar Zaini, Perak Islamic Religion Department Director Dato' Mohd Yusop Husin and State Exco Members.
